Dryer Repair Kansas City when clothes won't get Dry!

You will need dryer repair service Kansas City when your clothes are warm but not getting dry. This is a common occurrence and not really your fault. Most people clean their lint screen with each use but the problem is the other 60% of lint and where it goes. This is something you can do and will save you a hundred dollars or more if you do it yourself.

For all dryer repairs it is important that you unplug the appliance.

Pull the dryer out and look in the back where the vent tube is attached. You will need a quarter inch hex tool or phillips head screwdriver depending on the bracket holding the venting on.

Once this is detached clean up inside your dryer vent passage and do the same with the tubing. Your purpose is to loosen, release all the debris and lint built up inside the tubing of the dryer.

The last place you will want to check is the outside vent. This outside vent is usually where the problem is and you will need to pull the lint off and get the vent clean again.

For more experienced and do it yourself types you may want to venture inside the dryer and clean the blower chamber where the lint screen is housed.

More importantly if you stay aware of the time of how long it takes to dry you may be able to avoid an expensive repair like a cycling fuse or worse a motor. Keep your lint screen clean and periodically clean the inside of your dryer. Get more dryer repair tips by visiting

This One Step Could Save Your Refrigerator

Scorching heat can kill your refrigerator.

Summertime is here and most people forget about refrigerator service? Your refrigerator is working harder because of the heat. You can reduce the load on your refrigerator's compressor if you follow a few simple steps. These steps will keep your refrigerator running more efficently and may cost you less money on your energy bill.

Out of sight out of mind. This is true when it comes to your condensor coils that are hidden in most cases under your refrigerator. These use to be on the back of the refrigerator and never really created any issues. However today the condensor is located under the refrigerator and behind the kickplate at the bottom.

First off it is not your fault your condesor coil gets dirty and after you read the simple steps you will have peace of mind and know exactly how to correct the problem.

If you have dogs or cats you may need to do this more often.

Lets get started. You will need a vacuum and the crevice tool attachment. You may want to buy a crevice tool brush too.

Remove the kick plate and set it to the side. Pull the refrigerator out. Be careful not to disconnect the water lines. You will want to unplug the refrigerator. At this point you will need to take the back panel off. We want to look at the condesor fan and vacuum out the back of the refrigerator. Be careful not to hit the fan but gently get the dirt off the moving parts and the motor. It would be hard to do but be careful not to knock any wires off the compressor. Your goal is to just get the dust off.

Now put the back panel on and move to the front. Take your crevice tool and brush and remove any dust and debris from the condensor coil in the front under the refrigerator.

Your condensor coil is like a magnet and you may be surprised at how much dust and debris has accumulated under your refrigerator. The simple truth is with the fan going you will constantly be pulling dirt into the system. That is why it is important to clean your condensor coil reguarly. Cleaning reguarly will reduce the load on the compressor and should cut down on your energy bill.

Clothes Dryer Fire Prevention

Very few people realize the importance of clothes dryer fire prevention. However, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, there are an estimated annual 15,500 fires, 10 deaths and 10 injuries due to clothes dryer fires. Several hundred people a year are also subjected to carbon monoxide poisoning from improper dryer vent setups. The financial costs come to nearly $100,000,000 per year. In some cases faulty appliances are to blame, but many fires can be prevented with proper dryer venting.

How a Clothes Dryer Fire Occurs

Lint accumulation and reduced airflow feed on each other to provide conditions ripe for a fire. Lint is a highly combustible material, which, interestingly enough, is one of the ingredients in a recipe for home-made fire starters. A number of dryer vent problems contribute to this.

Inside the Dryer

Lint is the biggest culprit here. As you know from cleaning out your lint filter, dryers produce very large quantities of lint. Most people assume their lint traps catch all the lint, and that all they need to do is clean them out after each load. However, a significant amount of this lint is not caught by the lint trap and builds up inside the dryer-even on the heating element! If you are skeptical, try this experiment: pull out the lint trap and look underneath it- you may find large mounds of lint staring at you. Lint can build up on the heating element and in other places inside the dryer, causing it to overheat and possibly catch fire. As a rule, a fire starts from a spark in the machine. However, improper clothes dryer venting practices outside the dryer can play a key role in this process.

Before You Go....

1. Never let your clothes dryer run while you are out of the house or even worse, when you are asleep.

2. Thoroughly read manufacturers' instructions regarding the safe use of their dryers.

3. If all else fails, you can always use an old-fashioned clothesline. There have never been any reported clothesline fires!

Cleaning Tricks to Make Appliances last!

Found This Great Article....
As it turns out, the secret to keeping appliances running smoothly is cleanliness—or at least that’s what Kirby Mills, owner of At Your Service Appliance Repair in Kansas City, Missouri, tells The New York Times, having seen hundreds of appliances malfunction due to “goo, dust, and gunk” every year. I learned this the hard way a couple months ago when my dishwasher stopped working, only to discover later (following a very expensive visit from a repairman) that the problem was simply a filter that needed to be rinsed. It really doesn’t take much time or effort to clean appliances, and doing so can extend their lifespan by years. Here’s a re-cap of how to best go about this:

Dishwasher: Take out the racks. Check the corners and the rubber lining around the door for cracks and food residue. Clean out both with a sponge and plastic-bristled brush (don’t use metal as it can damage the machine). Consult the owner’s manual and remove the spray arms and wash them with soap and water. If you’ve got a filter basket at the base of your dishwasher, carefully remove the filter itself and give it a rinse as well. Slide your hand in the filter hole and check for debris. Put the pieces back together and run the machine empty with a bit of detergent.

Refrigerator: The coils underneath the machine tend to get clogged with dust, which can make it hard for the compressor fan to circulate fresh air. To make sure they’re all clear, unplug the machine, get down on the floor, and pull out the vent plate that covers the coil....
